Senior Python Engineer

We need a mid-level to senior Python engineer to join the team and help build and maintaining the Software Freshness service backend that generates "freshness" reports for microservice products, with results displayed in Backstage via a custom plugin.

Required skills and experience:

- Strong Python development (3.12+), comfortable with type hints, dataclasses, ABC pattern, async

- Experience building data pipelines or report-generation backends that aggregate data from multiple REST APIs (the role involves integrating with some internal and some external APIs)

- Working knowledge of Kubernetes and Argo Workflows, the backend runs as scheduled CronWorkflows on a K8s clusters

- Familiarity with container workflows: Docker, building production images, GitLab CI/CD pipelines

- Understanding of software supply chain security concepts: CVEs, CVSS scoring, vulnerability lifecycle, package versioning (semver)

- Experience with pytest (mocking, fixtures, coverage), static analysis tools (mypy, ruff, pylint), and quality-gated CI

- Comfortable working with JSON report schemas, data validation (jsonschema/marshmallow/pydantic), and file-based artifact stores (JFrog Artifactory)

- Bonus: experience with Backstage plugins (TypeScript/React) or willingness to contribute to the frontend plugin that consumes the reports the backend produces

- Ability to work independently in a small team, follow existing code conventions, and contribute to architectural decisions
